For those that are following Lonnie's blog I am the woman from Illinois that has been blessed to bring God's Special Angels here in a respite type organization. Since my trip to meet Lonnie in October of last year, God has stepped down on the accelerator and has been pushing me to go faster. You might recall that Lonnie put in one of his blogs that I had heard a voice say "10 months" the day that I was leaving to return to Illinois. Well, God was not joking! Since my return, I have been blessed with a place to start GSA in my home parish, I have had people come up to me out of the blue and tell me what their gifts are, and how they would like to help to get this special organization underway, and most importantly, the Holy Spirit has taken my hand and led me on this amazing journey. Today, as I write this update, GSA here in IL has an operating license and is official, the Articles of Incorporation are complete, an invitation to present GSA to my diocese (yes, I am Catholic but GSA is Christian based)on April 10, 2010 and as of this morning the Bylaws that is needed for the 501(c)(3) have been completed.

A close friend of mine, Brett, said yesterday, that he thought it was very amazing to watch both Lonnie and I on our path to bring GSA to reality. He said that he didn't quite know where all of this was going when I first presented it to him, but has had the opportunity to watch us and sees how God works. My respite part of GSA will be up and running with my 1st special needs family by August of this year. I have a feeling Lonnie's will quickly follow. Please keep us both in your prayers, and I will continue to use this blog, with Lonnie's permission, to make updates on the status of God's Special Angels - Illinois. God bless all of you!

Lonnie, I seems that God has a lot planned for all of us that is willing to open our hearts and give of ourselves unselfishly. He is blessing you for all your hard work and I know he will be with you through this entire process. Keep up the good work and I will continue to pray for you and your success at Liberty. Take care!

Hi! I stumbled across your sight as I was conducting my own research. You speak my heart very well. I too, have a child with special needs, and I am so blessed to have her. It saddens me that many families don't feel this way. I share your vision that churches need to be at the forefront of embracing diversity and equipping their communities to embrace families with special needs children. I live in Knoxville, Tn, so I hope that we will have the opportunity to meet as we both hear the same call.

Kim and I cracked up at the story of Megan's baptism. How precious we ALL our in God's sight!

May we all realize just how precious we all are ....

It's like the parable of the traveller who finds a treasure in a field and then sells all of his possessions to buy the field. So often we are taught that we are the traveller and Christ is the treasure. How crazy! Christ is the traveller and WE are the treasure! He gave it all just so he could have US - all of US! The blessings of a relationship with Christ by grace through faith are for ALL of us to experience daily ... in our own specially unique way.

Lonnie,

God bless you in your ministry. I have found that any work started by The Holy Spirit will be sustained by The Holy Spirit. If ministry does not begin and continue out of faith then it probably really isn't ministry. Doesn't The Bible say that Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith? and that it is God who dwells in us both to will and to do?

Just to comment on your last paragraph. Think about how much 'the church' could do if there were no building payments, bills, programs, salaries or pastor's discretionary funds .... Ministries do not have to be viewed by other men as glorious. They only have to begin and endure by the power of the mystery ... which is Christ in You - the hope of glory.

God bless!!

I think that very possibly the Lord gives us these beautiful gifts and He expects us to be thankful and proud of them! Afterall, James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

I can hardly wait till I can get me some of that good neck sugar! (Save me some)!

God is so good to us and we deserve so little! I am always amazed by how His abounding grace covers me. He is incomprehensible, but He can be known. How very blessed we are!

She's just PERFECT! And will you whisper in her ear for me..."Jesus love you"! Thanks all!

Wow! Jody, I've always thought of Megan as gifted! Never "wrong"! You know as I heard her sing today (6-27-09) in perfect pitch and sounding just like an angel, I told Marla and mom that she had a gift the world should be so privileged to hear. I'm thankful that Meg has been afforded the opportunities she has had there in TN, because the Lord knows that LA lags far behind.

Meg is blessed to have you guys and we are all blessed to have Meg. I'm interested in what you are doing here so I'll try to stay in touch and follow this closely. We have very few families that attend our church with children with special needs. Sometimes I think they find it easier not to "bother" with attending, but wow, everyone (us and them) are missing a blessing!

Thanks for being obedient to the Holy Spirit and the "fire" will spread, just keeping pushing on!
